Self-taught musician considered as one of the best mexican bass player. He has been related with great figures of rock, pop and jazz (Mike Garson, PatMastelotto, David Fiuczynski, Alejandro Sanz, Jaime Lopez, Denise Gutierrez, between many others).
Alonso Arreola as a soloist, as member of La Barranca (2001 -2007), or with his own quintet or with his actual projects (Arreolo + Carballo, Monocordio and 3Below along with Trey Gunn and Michael Manring), has played in the greatest festivals and forums in Mexico (5 times in Vive Latino, Auditorio Nacional, Teatro Metropolitan, etc.), as well as in Portugal, England, Argentina, USA, Cuba, France, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Colombia, Paraguay and Japan.
He has set music to short films and live sountrack movies, as well as setting texts to music along with french writer Michel Houellebecq and multidisciplinary projects about his grandfather’s work, the writer Juan Jose Arreola, whose published an epistolary book with his brother.
Alonzo has diverse didactic activities, he created the educational workshop LabA where he teaches to more than 40 bass players, he has given conferences and master class in numerous Mexican colleges and institutions, as well as, he is journalist and editor interviewing and covering events almost all around the world, he is currently working with several specialist journals and, since ten years ago, he keeps writing his Sunday column ‘Bemol Sostenido’ in La Jornada Semanal (well-known newspaper).
